Steeple Steeple

Privacy Policy

Effective September 6, 2026

Steeple helps people find, explore, and connect with local churches. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what information Steeple collects, why, and what you can do about it.

01

Information we collect

We collect only what Steeple actually needs to help you find and connect with a church. Here's exactly what that is:

CategoryWhat's included
AccountEmail address and password, handled by our authentication provider.
ProfileDisplay name, bio, city, school, avatar photo, favorite verse, and your selected home church — all optional beyond what's needed to create an account.
Discovery preferencesWorship style, church size, ministries, and priorities you select so Steeple can suggest churches that fit.
Saved activityChurches you save, visits you plan.
MessagesThe content of messages you send to, or receive from, a church through Steeple's messaging feature.
Church claim requestsIf you claim a church listing on behalf of that church: your contact email and any notes you submit.

If you claim and manage a church's listing, anything you add on that church's behalf — photos, ministry descriptions, events, volunteer opportunities — is stored as public content about that church, not as your personal data.

02

What we don't do

📍

Your device location is used only on your device — to sort churches by distance and center the map — and is never sent to or stored on Steeple's servers.

🚫

We don't sell your data, run advertising, or use any analytics or tracking software. Steeple has no ad network, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracker of any kind.

Your saved churches, planned visits, and discovery preferences are private to your account. Other people using Steeple can't see them. A church can only see your name and photo if you actually send that church a message.

03

How we use your information

We do not use your information to build an advertising profile, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond running the features described above.

04

Who we share it with

Steeple doesn't sell or rent your information to anyone. A small number of service providers process it on our behalf, strictly to run the app:

Supabase

Our backend provider. Supabase stores your account, profile, messages, and saved activity, and enforces the access rules described in this policy at the database level.

Mapbox

When you search for a destination in Travel Mode, that search text is sent to Mapbox's geocoding service to find matching places. Steeple doesn't send Mapbox your saved data or message content.

Apple and Google map services

The map itself is rendered by your device's own operating system (Apple Maps on iOS), subject to that provider's own privacy practices, not Steeple's.

Churches you message

If you message a church, that church's account holder can see your name, profile photo, and the content of that conversation — the same as any messaging feature.

If you're a California resident: we do not sell or share your personal information, as those terms are defined under California privacy law (CCPA/CPRA). We have no reason to — Steeple has no ad network and no data broker relationships of any kind.

05

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active — we don't have a reason to hold onto it beyond that. If you delete a saved church, planned visit, or conversation, it's removed from view immediately. If you ask us to delete your account entirely (see the next section), we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain something by law.

06

Your choices

07

Children's privacy

Steeple is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

08

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit and database-level access controls — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to keep only what each part of Steeple actually needs.

09

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
